(or
Cocktail Party Syndrome = CPS).
It is a very common problem affecting at least 20% of the
population, both old and young. They have a problem with auditory
discrimination.
How do we live if we cannot hear when there are noises in the
background?The
problem is that most people who suffer do not come necessarily from
people who have hearing difficulties.
A hearing aid will not help, however.
Your friends know you're not deaf and you have all the time to
explain that you can not hear in a noisy environment.
Much of our social life takes place in noisy environments and thus
communicate with others becomes e real dilemma for you.
You meet someone who lives near you and you to get together by train
or subway.
Immediately you panic, thinking that will be the conversation amid
the noise of the train.
Something like the scientist Sunflower in Tintin, but much less fun
for you.
In all meetings where there are many people, you become nervous,
thinking about all the wrong answers you are going to do, because
you didn't understand the question, answering yes instead of no,
accepting impossible dates for parties or business deals that you
have no ideas of. And then you feel quite uncomfortable.
But you're not deaf!
If your friends say you need an hearing aid, they do no good. In
fact you hear quite well. But you hear at the same level the
background noise and the conversation, and you can put them apart.
People who don't know this problem and some doctors will tell you
that it is a psychological problem, and that you don't want to
listen. The good news is that you have exactly the same problem that
led Patricia Joudry to make the Sound Therapy cure. It is for this
reason that she developed this portable program that has helped
thousands of people like her.
How Sound Therapy can help you
Several factors can explain the remarkable effectiveness of Sound
Therapy in the case of the cocktail party syndrome. The ability to
differentiate and select specific sounds in a noisy environment is
partly a function of the ear and partly of the brain. Dr. Tomatis
discovered that the middle ear muscles (the hammer and the stirrup
muscles) play a role in the selection of sounds by changing the
tension of the ear drum and other membranes of the ear in order it
can listen to the vibration it want to listen to. The Sound Therapy
makes these muscles to do gymnastic and to be able to improve
ability to differentiate the sound of the conversation from the
background sound.
Another aspect of the Cocktail Party Syndrome is the Central
Auditory Processing, that is to say the brain's capacity to sort and
give meaning to the various sounds that come simultaneously. It is
quite obvious from the results obtained in the fields of learning,
speech and short term memory that Sound Therapy improves the brain's
capacity. The ear is the final organ through which the auditory part
of the brain can be stimulated. The harmonic structure of classical
music, with its stimulating effect on the brain, improved by the
Electronic Ear, has proved its effectiveness in improving neural
transmission and thus the discrimination of sounds.
